Photobucket Bulk Upload
« on: January 03, 2014, 09:24:15 AM »
Anybody use this? I tried it last week and eventually my puter slowed down slower than a snail. I ran it thru cc cleaner and it didn't do anything to speed it up. So this morning I got rid of the Bulk Upload and now my puter acts like its brand new.
I did notice that after a couple days it said I needed more room to store pics and there was a prescription list with annual prices. I feel as its a scam but not sure if there is a real benefit of the bulk upload. Anybody knowledgable with it?

I put event photos on Photobucket and sometimes the upload is quite slow, but not bad enough to complain to them. I'll have to check the available space.

Yes. Sometimes as many as 75 at a time. It does take a while to finish.

Sounds like it works alright for you, I just didn't like the way it slowed down my system.

How big (megapixels) are your photos. It speeds up a lot if you edit them down to 1600 pixels wide. Most cameras take 3600 or larger photos.

HeelSpur, you might be interested in a program for re-sizing your pictures. I use Irfanview to re-size some of my pictures before uploading. Re-sizing them in this case, means making the file size smaller - the actual pictures look just the same to me - but I can change the file size from, say, 1.5 megabytes to 1 or 2 hundred kilobytes for example. Like I say, the pictures look about the same to me, but I may not have the most critical eye when it comes to color saturation, contrast or other elements of quality that would be important to others.
It is possible to do this kind of re-sizing in bulk with Irfanview, and then your bulk upload should go much faster. It does add another step to the whole process though, so it may not help the bottom line much in terms of net time saved. The program is free and does some other things, so it may be something you'd like to check out.

The files I upload to Photobucket are full size- @5184x3456.
Irfanview is a super deal- open source and very useful.

Same here, I thought I was just gonna upload a dozen pictures and it would take a lot less time. Had no idea it was gonna upload every damn pic I had ever taken from every file.
