OK, we're talking deeeeeep philosophical stuff here.  I'm reminded of the fact that the standard way of answering British telephones for years was, "Are you there?"  I've always wondered what possible answers there are to that question, besides "yes."

I would answer "where?"  and when I'm asked "can you hold?" I ask (if I know them) "Hold what?"
Alternatively you could answer "No, I'm right behind you" then you can say "made you look" this would be a decent prank call.
