The sickness is confirmed
« on: March 02, 2014, 01:09:01 PM »
Its confirmed, tool collecting and papaws wrench is a sickness.

I am always early picking a friend up for lunch or whatever, the one day I am fifteen minutes late I get questioned. I tried explaining I had to go look at a vintage Kennedy machinest chest. Her response was "your so called tool collecting is officially some sort of weird sickness". I laughed an said if you think its bad now just wait till i have a whole barn full. I couldn't help but laugh again when she said "as long as your with me you will have no barn"

I would like to blame tooltalk for any future relationship problems.

who gave that right to me.

So, is this a friend, or a Close Friend?

Its a extremely complicated and somewhat weird relationship. Were just extremely good friends. Not dating but not interested in anyone else....if that makes any sense.

Dang, a barn full of tools, or a woman friend with potential. That's a tough choice. They never make it easy do they?
My friends call me Bob. My wife calls me a lot worse.

Nola, best I recall, you're a young man.  I dam well know I'm an old man, and I do some recall being a young man.

I'm going to tell you straight up.

That female ain't a friend, 10 years from now you'll look back at her as a cost you could have spent on tools.  SHE ain't worth it.
Save the money you're spending on her lunches and transportation, and get to drawing up barn plans.

I'm backing the grumpy old man on this one! (At 48, I have long been grumpy myself - just have to wait a few more years to be "old"...)

It ain't necessarily so.  Just gotta find the *right* woman.  I have.  One of her favorite places to shop is a hardware store.  And she introduced me to the recycle-town section of the dump near Santa Rosa, where I've bought bunches of tools.  I wouldn't have been able to build my new workshop without her.  I do admit that she looked at me a little strangely on Saturday when I picked up a (another, actually) Stiletto claw hammer, but hey, it was only two bucks.  One of her goals when we got married was to make sure I got a good workshop.

Neil, I say she might be a "keeper" if she has hung around you as long as I think she has. Women always think they want to change a man, but really, deep down inside, they don't. You are more likely to effect some change in her outlook when she sees that tools not only help make your living, but are an essential part of you yourself. Some of us here on Tool Talk have watched you grow up and think you will be a great catch for someone some day.
