A customer of mine came by to pick up an old Schrade knife display case yesterday and had me photograph an old drill press he bought from a friend.  Brand name is called "Driver" and it's new to me.  Despite using the "Corvair" style V-Belt for harnessing the electric motor(a GE, BTW), the mechanism to drop the middle set of pulleys to change speeds is really cool.  I anyone knows anything about the company, he's really curious.

If I remember correctly, the Driver line was the somewhat lesser quality line compared to the Walker Turner stuff.  That being said, I have a Driver wood lathe that is as good as you could want, I don't know how you would improve on it.

Just a little less beefy and maybe more home-owner oriented vs commercial shop used equipment is why Walker Turner came out with the Driver lineup. Or probably another way to reach more market. Delta did this with their homecraft lineup too. Theyre still fine tools.

I have a bench top Driver drill press of a slightly different design.
Got it at the flea market a couple of years ago for $20. Could use a new belt but otherwise it works good.
