What's this?!
« on: April 07, 2014, 03:27:54 PM »
I've never seen one quite like this.  What's the loop thing for? Anyone have any info on it? Pexto brand with patent date 9-30-26

Don't know , but Pexto made a lot of sheet metal working tools. I would have bought it.

I have no idea, but it looks cool. What is that patent date?

We had a new pair of nail clippers for dogs that was similar.

It had a straight edge cut vs a diagonal cutter. The half circle would swing into place so you don't take to much off the nail at once.

Thats my best guess, based on what else ive seen.

Does the loop thing move with the handle? or can it be positioned over the cutters?

Wire cutter that can also cut the insulation off the wire? Looks like it would work.

The loop thing can be positioned anywhere, though in some spots it doesn't stay in place.  Probably a little worn.

I also tried searching the patent date that's on it, but nothing shows up.

9-30-26 isn't a valid issue date, see if it might be some other digit somewhere

I also looked through a couple old catalogs and didn't see anything like it.  Here is a picture of the patent mark.  The only other markings are MADE IN U.S.A. on the inside of both grips.

if the loop is positioned over the opening of the cutters, looks like it would "retain" whatever the cutters has in it's jaws? or Batz idea.. is the edge sharp enough to cut/strip insulation?

Cable sheathing? something special for Bell?

The shape looks like what you see on hose cutting pliers (very slow cutting slope)

Beer bottle opener?

These are for cutting armored cable (BX), Patent should be April 26, 1927.
Patent number is 1626274  (not in datamp)

The Application date is 3-30-26, which partly matches at least....
