Couple old tool chests Mac? and Remline
« on: August 19, 2014, 07:56:55 PM »

My store manager Josh picked these up for $30.  The top box is worth the price alone.  Both are beat but the bottom Remline is really rough.  It looks worse in person than in photos.
The top box we think is a Mac?  Anyone know for sure?  Here's a photo of the drawer pull.

He's happy with them and I've been helping him bang the dents out and getting the slides to slide.  He's trying to collect tools to do his own car repairs.
The top box will fix up nicely.  It even has what appears to be the original tool tray.

I don't believe it's Mac, I'm guessing they are both Remline , judging by your photos.

I have to agree with Lostmind.  I think the are both RemLine boxes.  But it looks like the top chest is slightly older and has been repainted; note the curved drawer pulls on the chest and the square-ish pulls on the cabinet.

I'm guessing if you sanded the chest you would find a silver-gray exterior with red drawers and bright drawer pulls.

In any event, assuming Lostmine and I are incorrect, you would still end up with compatible and usable chest & cab combination.  It looks like a bargain project for your store manager.
