A confusing Kraeuter

This chisel?? is 6 1/2 inches long 5/8 inch dia. 8 sided with a 4 sided tapered end that is clearly off center and about 1/4 inch nearly square at the end. It is clearly marked 332-3/8, but the only place it would be 3/8 inch would be part way down the tapered end.

What is it used for? and has it perhaps been user modified?

Pic 1 shows markings, Pics 2 & 3 one side of the taper and the reverse to show the off centered end, Pics 4 & 5 the same for the other two sides.

Looks somewhat like a cape chisel used for cutting keyways, etc.

These were used when things were fabricated and repaired. The old days. Now most people take the
credit card and buy a new one . It's interesting to experiment with various chisels.

From my perspective, the old days weren't so long ago.  Sears, of all places, sold diamond point and round nose chisels until some time in the 70s.

Have used diamond and cape chisels to remove stubborn old bearing sleeves, such as king pin bushings.    Still a useful tool for the box.
