Farmed for a long time now. Recently, I had to update my barn again. The weather always seems to cause some problems. This time I added a nice loft into my barn, to hold all my excess tools and equipment. To my old bodies regret, I had to climb the usual ladder to reach the loft. I didn't think enough ahead to install stairs.

Anyways, I went out on a limb and purchased an attic lift http://goo.gl/zEcHPO for my barn. Yes, it's a little out of the ordinary. But, it sounded like a good idea. For the most part it was, it takes what I need up to the loft. I still have to climb the ladder though.

Does anyone have any ideas to better my ladder situation? I don't want to spend too much more money remodeling again. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you could build that for half the price. Recycle stores probably have many of the items you need.

I like the idea myself, tho I would prolly overload it the first day.

I had something like that in mind when building my shop. I had a used server rack that could have been used, but it ended up in scrap for $$.

This is a little on the out of the box side, but if you have a wall that you can use you might try one of those stair/chair lifts.  Used lifts can be purchased inexpensively.
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

It's funny I see this.

A older lady I cut grass for has me bring down her Christmas stuff from her attic an put it back up. Her husband wanted to do it himself so he had some winch an platform system built. Hired some all in one handyman guy to build it(wooden) an install it. He also had a fancy attic ladder put in. At first glance it looked good but the more you looked the more I thought its a piece of crap. The winch came off of the wall it was bolted to. It was only a cheap harbor freight winch but it was mounted to the wall with four mollys.

Needless to say its cheaper to give me 40 bucks for the grass all summer an ile do whatever short odd job as long as you give me some cookies an pop.

who gave that right to me.
