Adolf Volker nippers, history?
« on: November 12, 2014, 08:33:10 PM »
I bought a box of nippers and these were included.

The only info I can find about Herr Volker is that someone with that name made some pretty snazzy blades for the WWII war effort.

are these connected to him? or just a name coincidence?

Not in Wolfgang Jordans list of German makers: http://www.holzwerken.de/museum/hersteller/marken.phtml

Maybe a US maker, or even an owner's stamp....

Update: there was a German cutler, Adolf Volker, at Schmalkaden, Thüringen (their SA daggers from WW2 are very collectable) - maybe like the Sheffield cutlers in the UK, they also made tools as well as fulfilling government contracts...

see: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=110154

their mark was a railway locomotive (your trade mark looks similar)...

These appear to be just ordinary carpenter's nail pincers - farrier's tend to be longer in the handle..
