Double pliers

A friend of mine sent me these pictures of pliers he recently found. I don't have a name or any other information. They remind me of tire chain pliers but I don't think they are. Any information would be appreciated!

Kind of look like pliers used for holding fish, although I don't quite understand the jaws on the side...maybe for holding your bait fish.

They're for when you catch two fish at the same time.

Grew up on and then raised our kids on "Great Grandfather and the Honey Tree," so I tend to think in grandiose terms

No clue, but it looks like it is designed to hold round stock of some sort.

I'm also curious about the relatively light handle construction & the curled back ends on the handles --  what other functions require dual purpose tongs that could enable a "straight pull" and a "lifting pull"?

just another thought,  it looks like one bill is flat and the other has grooves with no
pointed/sharp  grips,  could they be used in the upholstery shop.

some work off of a table and the side bill would be handy to pull down on.

Sorry that I don't have any more info on the pliers, all I have so far is the pictures that he sent me. One day soon, I will be able to get up to his place and check them out!
