Our 2nd Unknown

Here is our second tool. It is 18 1/4 " long.  Sure hope it's not a medical instrument.

I ran right out and tried that on 2 chains - didn't work. The single inner jaw is 1/16 shorter than the double outer jaw. Both curve the same direction. My first thot is that it's for stretching something since both jaws curve the same way.

The inner single jaw is 1/4" thick. The  double outer jaw is 1" wide (2 - 1/4" thick jaws)with about 3/8+" between them.

It has just now been determined that this tool is a home made “horse clincher” used to clinch over horse shoe nails protruding thru the upper surface of a horse hoof. The nails are cut off short then the end is clinched down with this tool. I believe it is a one off tool made by a blacksmith or rancher.  Commercially manufactured clinchers are expensive.
