This is an 8 incher, is this the smallest of this version of monkey wrench, or is there a 6 incher too?

I have a couple of 6 1/2 inch Coes patent monkey wrenches, maybe three.

HeelSpur;

according to my Bemis & Call and Coes wrenches catalog number 30.

your 8" wrench is of the Briggs patent nut wrench No. 38

they were made in the following sizes;  8"  10"   12"  15"  &  18"

8" wrenches were sold for $18.oo per dozen.

CATALOG DESCRIPTION;

This wrench has many advantages over any other wrench made, as it is provided with a long nut or sleeve whereby the whole hand can be applied in making adjustments, thus giving greatly increased power to the jaws on wornout nuts. it is especially useful in cold weather, as it can be operated with your mittens on.
the long nut protects the thread and prevents it from being damaged.

The Head, Bar and Shank of these wrenches are all one-piece steel forging.
