hello i recently bought a bonney 10 inch  wrench . it wasn't work 100 percent so i had to get the wd40 and a small file and a rag but works well now . but my question in your opinion is it better to just clean it and make it work or should i put on the wire wheel on my grinder and remove all the rust and paint the repaint ?

let me know I'm wondering what would be best . i don't plan on using this tool either

I go by the "Less is more" rule, but I often break it.
I hope that explains everything

If I was going to sell it I would brush it lightly with a fine brass wire brush just to clean it.  If I were to keep it I would clean off all the old paint and either leave it bare steel or paint everything but the jaws.  Sometimes it's nice to have a wrench like that for a specific purpose.  I have a similar wrench that I keep with my torch set for changing bottles.

if you plan on selling , clean only. If you are keeping it for yourself , finish it how you want it. It's your wrench.

Personally I would leave as is. I like the way it is currently.

I normally advise against wire wheeling on wrenches. Maybe a brass brush by hand but nothing to course.

It's your wrench thoe so do what fits you best. Let us know what you decide.

I think you are making a the right choice. I like to leave the patina , adds to the character. It looks good just the way it is.
