This week at Kiwanis

This week's donations to our local thrift sale include somebody's
collection of Stanley-Baileys (nos. 4,5,6C,7C), some block planes,
and a lot more to sort through. Haven't had a moment yet to
check out the better stuff yet (in search of the inevitable cracked
castings, pitting, missing parts, etc.), but first impressions are good.

Also three tool trunks long ago adopted by mice.

Those trunks look nice from what I can see.

Also a VG  D.R.Barton framing slick (Rochester, NY). Don't think
I've ever seen one in the donations before. We usually run
more to visegrip knock-offs and Craftsman combo wrenches.

Does anyone have advice about sharpening slicks? At present,
this one has a convex edge and is rather dull. I'm inclined to
simply leave it as is, rather than risk ruining it out of ignorance.

The No 6C and 7C look to be in good condition and it looks like both have the low front knob which I think dates them to pre 1918.
That is a very generous donation from somebody.

Barton took advantage of Rochester's abundant water power from the Genesee river raceway for his shop at 136 Mill Street. 
Mill Street was home to many forges and machine shops in that time frame with easy access to pig iron from the Blast furnace located a few miles North at the mouth of the river.
