Starrett Open End Wrench

Hello, I was going through the wrench pile, and found this one. It has a raised S within a circle, Alloy Artifacts says it is a Starrett. Raised on ends 1/2   5/8, I believe these are bolt sizes, as the openings are approximately 7/8 and 1-1/16, respectively. There are raised figures on the other side of the handle, can't make them out. First Starrett wrench I have seen. Regards, Lou

HD Smith used a raised "S" in a circle on some of their tools but I've never seen a DOE from them.

I thought that Starrett used a "S" in a circle but it was stamped, not raised.

Hello, Bunger. Thanks for the info, I went back to Alloy Artifacts, and you are correct, it says stamped on sockets. I will keep trying to find more info on this one, Lou

Great shot of your wrench. They are very similar, but what my bi-focals are telling me there is a slight difference. Yours look more like an S-hook, mine seems to be flatter at the top & bottom of the S, but still very close. I will try another close-up tomorrow. Thanks, Lou

If it is a forged mark (raised) than more than likley but i have not found any evidence of a double open end by them.

Hello, Bill. The letter S and the circle are raised on the handle. There are raised figures on the opposite side of the handle. looks like 638, or, G38, or B38. The 38 is legible, but the first figure is difficult to make out. Thanks again, Lou

I dunno.
Never heard of such a wrench.
And HD Smith generally marks their tools a little more prominently.
But......I have no constructive suggestion.

I don't know either. I haven't been able to find any evidence one way or the other. Just trying to figure out what the mark looks like to get some direction.

I have never seen any H D Smith wrenches like that and the mark, in my view, doesn't match. I only have the one H D Smith catalog and it doesn't have wrenches like that in it. I also looked at a Starrett catalog or two and the only wrenches I saw there were a ratchet similar to Mossbergs.

In the description in their TM for "Perfect Handle," they do mention regular wrenches, along with the obvious screwdrivers, pipe wrenches, etc.  So, I'd think it's possible, although I've never seen one either.
