Vice Grip special?
« on: September 03, 2016, 03:57:06 PM »
Here is an "original" ViceGrips pliers from DeWitt Neb.  I gave $75.00 for it.  It was mostly painted yellow.  My question is what is it made for?  The jaws are "rolled" over, with plating suggesting it was that way from the factory.  I guess they were made for "pinching off" hoses on a temporary basis.  Sorry about the bad pictures.  As always all suggestions are welcome.

Hose pinch off would be my guess too.
A person who could really read human minds would be privileged to gaze on some correct imitations of chaos.

Sorry about my typing skills, I meant 75 cents.  I bought them at the second day of an estate sale for half price, I passed on the first day thinking they had been reworked by the previous owner, and having better time and access I knew they were sold like that.

Interesting modification.  Once read where between factory Vise Grips, and the uncompleted ones the factory sold, one could assemble almost 130 variations of the pliers.

We had a pair at work for crimping cutting torch hose clamps used to repair damaged hoses.

EvilDR:  I think I have a pair of those myself.  Always wondered what they were for, but the diameter of the crimper fits torch lines perfectly.  Thanks man!!

Hello, Those are still available, from Irwin. Probably not as good as the the ones that were made by the Petersen Mfg. Co. ,in Dewitt, Nebraska. Current Model No. RR, and I believe it is referred to as a Locking Pinch-off Tool. Good work, guys. Regards, Lou
