What is this? Or what did it belong to?

Perfect place!

I know so little about tools, but I've been scouring the internet and browsing through photos - farm tools, wood working tools. I have no idea what this is!! If anyone could give me any ideas I would be eternally grateful.

Looks like a home-made apparatus to me. Function? I don't have a clue.

Looks like the front half of a shoe. Can't really tell if its left or right. Better picture might help.

And a buncha gravel - even with my old eyes, I can tell it's gravel.

That is an odd piece of iron and/or steel.  Clearly, it bolted to something, but to what, and what the bird's beak did to further the American dream - no idea.

Heh, sorry for the shoe...

If it's possible I'll try to get some better shots of it this weekend. It /was/ home made, that much they could tell, but neither of them seemed to know what it did either. My online searches aren't pulling up much.

Thank you for taking stabs at it!

Okay it is old, and blacksmith made.  You can tell by the hand forged nut, and marks on the looped looking part.  Almost looks like a stamping behind the bird beak area?   The threaded shaft looks like it could have been bolted into a beam.   And the rusty pin behind the bird beak,  could have held a lever.   Use, no idea, throwing a ruler in there would help some.  Interesting.

I think your on the right path john k.
Put another threaded rod on that other pin and it could have been a handle for a gate or door.

I've seen a lot of what is questions here, but this one is hard. Honestly I couldn't think of what it could be.

Sure am curious thoe.
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
