It must be clamp day ;)
« on: November 28, 2016, 03:00:54 PM »
I recently picked up two of these  tools. They were rusted solid, but after a little tlc they now have a really smooth clamping action. The cool thing is that the two studs allows you to use them to clamp inside or outside. I am wondering who made them and what their specific function was, any ideas?

I believe I've seen pitchers of those, and that they're used to clamp miters: drill holes matching the pins in each piece of stock, insert pins, tighten clamp.

I had a couple of those once, and they were identified as veterinary tools. They were used in conjunction with a frame that would be put in a horse's mouth, then twisted to force the mouth open so the vet could work on the teeth. That's my two cents worth.

Oh, Lynn, you're bringing back baaaaaaad memories.  I had a dentist once who had the same kind of device for work on people - which I found out when he pulled it out and installed it on me.  It felt like he was trying to dislocate my jaw when he put it in and cranked it up.  There was a reason that he had that particular piece of equipment - I've never had such a brutal dentist, before or (thank goodness) since.

I dunno, Bill.  I was having a bunch of baby teeth pulled (sommmmme time ago) and they gave me gas.  When I woke up, my dentist's nurse had blood all over her dress.
Served her right!
I felt terrible.  Just terrible.
Believe it or not, the dentist's name was Dr. Payne.
