heres the weird nut that adjust spring pressure when standing on the runner lift pedals.  i would think you'd need a wrench to turn it. the rest of nuts are wing nuts or square. there are a few wagon rivets installed.


wheel mud scrapers. some orig paint with pin stripe. hole in cross member that row marker was attached.


here are the stirrups for the helper. when sitting to the side he'd have 1 foot in a stirrup and the other foot on the front cross member.


the check handle, newer wood with orig. cast insert.


4 pin stripes per wheel, 2 inner 2 outer.


seats, i been told to take them and lock up, especially the wood 1.

That thing is awesome. I can't believe there is still some of the original paint left. Too cool.

I mentioned in a earlier post that the tongue was cut, heres a photo of it.  I believe the the guy showing it at the seed corn booths at the fairs cut it to fasten a hinge being able to fold it up so not so long.  You can see the outline of the hinge.  Kinda bums me out.... but its still good. at least it wasn't tractor pulled.


here is another cut I found showing the Browns "Standard No.1" which i believe my planter is. Also in this cut you see the field is "marked off" showing the intersections at which the kid would move the drop handle the other direction to its stop,  then seed drops from each box.  it looks like any wrench used sideways would adjust that three lobe nut.  I have never seen a nut with more than 2 lobes ?? don't lose it.

yes i agree, its actually 4 lobe. i was kinda thinking those implement wrenches with the larger square, but not buggies.  any flat like tire iron wedged in to bolt would start it around. not much room for a wrench either.  maybe its a wing nut type thing?

  oops, yes, after a 2nd look, I now see the 4th one.   would a small monkey wrench fit there ?  move one lobe at a time.

  I had thought that maybe when it was newer, before rust came along, it would turn by hand, but that looks like a hefty
  set up.
