Just wanted to give a quick intro of myself since I'm obviously new to this site.

I've been doing building maintenance for the past 33 1/2 years and have been doing my own auto and motorcycle repair and maintenance for nearly as long.  During this time I've acquired quite a collection of hand tools.  Some if not most I've purchased myself but some I've inherited from my Dad and grandfather.   Most of the tools from my grandfather are old (I'm talking early 1900's) carpentry tools.

I can't say I have huge intrest in old/antique tools, but what led me here is was some curiosity regarding an old Penens Corp. 3/8" drive ratchet that was my father's.  I'm 55 years old and that ratchet has been around for as long as I can remember!  I found quite a bit of info on another site, Toolarchives.com, but have been unable to register as a member, so  that's how I ended up here.  The info I found was good (lots of pics to compare!) but didn't see anything exactly like what I've got.

I won't go into anymore detail regarding the ratchet here, but once I get some pics uploaded I'll start a new thread and post some pics and hopefully someone can give me some idea of when this ratchet was made.

Thanks!!

Northwoods

According to AA, Penens opened in 1941 to produce tools for Plomb, etc.  The page does not say when they began to sell tools under the Penens name, but they changed to the Fleet name in 1964 or 65.
This link (scroll down) shows two Penens rats.  I bet your dad's is the second one # 1661.
The Plomb/Proto/Penens/Bog/Chellenger connection is one huge tangle.
