Could it be a tire or tube spreader for a patch?

A bunch of pics (5000+) of tools and projects in our shoppe

Hello, Oldgoaly. There does not seem to be a way to use it as a spreader, but I could be wrong. The mechanics of it make me think it is for lifting, the jaws seem like they would pinch when you use the bar as a handle. I've seen it listed as a Battery Lifter, and a Bead Breaker. Regards, Lou

One picture I saw online show a handle piece that is missing on yours.

lptools

Hello, Lewill2. You have it, plain to see on the one I have, the handle is sheared off. Another one for the mistake box!!!!!  Regards, Lou

My first thought was battery , but could also be for bricks?
Of all the things I've lost , I miss my mind the most

lptools

Works mechanically like brick tongs, but the brick carriers are longer, with wider, flat faces on the jaws

That's got to be the most substantial battery lifter I've seen yet!  I wonder if it's for deep-cycle batteries, like power plant batteries?
