Was this old wrench used for a specific purpose?

Hi guys,
Another tool from my dad's shop. Assume it's a socket wrench of some kind. Wondering if this wrench was used on his 1929 Model A Truck? It's marked OWATONNA TOOL CO.

Thanks!

All best,
Paula

Hello, Paula. Looks like a flex head box wrench. Do the heads pivot? Regards, Lou

Hi Lou,

Thanks for your reply.  Yes, the heads do pivot.

A number of companies used to make double flex head socket wrenches.  I have examples from OTC, Truth, and Snap On.  IFAIK, they are not vehicle or application specific.

Thanks for the reply.  Any idea of the era these were manufactured?

Paula

Also known as Saltus wrench or a flex combination wrench. OTC's manufacture of these probably started around 1940. By the late 70's most mfg's that made them were discontinuing them.
By the looks of yours I would think 40's-50's.
A person who could really read human minds would be privileged to gaze on some correct imitations of chaos.

I have been trying to put a set of these (OTC) together, have 6 so far, but don't know how many make a set.

You have 1 to go according to Cat 49-J  from 1-52

F1214, F1618, F1820, F2022, F2224, F2628, F3032

We're offered in pouch sets of 3 or 4 but not the lot.
