Hello, I have been unable to come up with anything on these 2. The piece at top is stamped W E B , each letter within a diamond, also stamped Sheffield. This opens all the way to a square, or folds flat either left or right. The pliers at bottom are unmarked. Thanks, Lou

Is the top piece possibly a pantograph?

I just sold one on Ebay-

Hello, Papaw. I was thinking of something like that, but I couldn't remember the correct term. I can see how the one that you show would work , but I am stumped how this would be put to use. Thanks, Lou

The top item looks like a trivet to me.
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

My first thought on the pliers was some kind of button-punch tool, but I couldn't find a picture of one quite like that.

The pliers to me look like a riveting tool, as for canvas work.  The other may just be a kitchen trivet, maybe.

Hello, Thanks for the replies. I like the idea of a trivet, but that would put the label/stamp down in use, some company went to a lot of trouble to put the W E B within the diamonds, and the Sheffield in script. Re; the pliers, if you look closely at the 4th photo, the tip of the jaw on the left has a small hole passing through it. The tip of the jaw on the right has a small raised ball end. Still confused, Lou!!!!!

A person who could really read human minds would be privileged to gaze on some correct imitations of chaos.

WEB out of Sheffield was a silverplate company, I have a canape server by them - so I'm going with trivet as well
