Could it clamp/hold and cut lead came used in art glass windows?
I know there is different thicknesses of glass so could that match the grooves in it? The lead came is a "H" pattern. The clamp it down then pull it to stretch and straighten the came before using it. Been 35 years since I took that art glass class.

No size reference so it's hard to guess how big but it reminds me of H.B. Rouse Co. trimmers for print shops back in the Linotype days. Did an eBay search for Linotype cutter and saw several like the one pictured below.

Hello, What you are showing is a Lead & Rule Cutter, which has  a fence & stop for pre-determined lengths to be cut. I like what oldgoaly said, but I haven't been able to find another one.Regards, Lou

Lou, this tool sure looks over designed to last forever. most of the art glass tools I have seen, which isn't a real large sample are not as well made, or look like they were borrowed from another craft.
So my guess is it was used by a large commercial church window maker

I've got some very well made glass tools.   Mostly German. But I've not used lead came.

Nicer stained glass is edge wrapped in copper and solder is used to join the pieces.

Larger glass windows use steel ribs.  Real "stained" glass has glass paints or enamels fused to the glass.

Ive made a 24" round piece if glass with over 3000 pieces of glass. All fused together.

Every craft has beginner tools and professional tools.
