I have been buying tools since 1966. I have a lot of 8 point sockets, but none of them are deep sockets. Did any toolmaker ever make deep 8 point sockets ? Years ago while working for my good friend Brian in the wrecking yard /scrap metal business I found 8 point sockets useful when we tore down old gas stations that were bolted together using square bolts and nuts.

that is a darn good question.I'm guessing I had played with over 10,000 sockets in my tool business, and can't remember any deep eight points.

I have seen and sold 13/16 four point deep impact sockets for doing the wheels on tractor trailers.

curious what others have  seen

In all my years of handling tools I can't remember seeing an 8pt deep socket.

I think I have a couple of semi deep 8 point sockets in the garage somewhere.

I've used a number of 8points and have never seen a deep one either.

But I cant remember needing one or it would have been slapped together. Chop saw, piece of pipe and a few minutes at the welder will make a shallow socket a deep one.

I recall seeing either a medium deep or deep one's listed in a late 1980's SnapOn catalog.  At least I though so.

This isn't a deep , but it's a 8 point impact swivel in 1/2" drive. It's an Apex from Dayton, Ohio. It doesn't say where its made. I found this in the garage this morning looking for the semi deeps. I didn't find those.

Snap on made a few sizes in 1/2" drive impact socket. I have one somewhere.

Proto and Sunex both make deep eight point impact sockets. The Sunex listing says "8 point design accommodates most railroad applications".  I believe Wright makes them as well.

Don't think i've ever seen a deep 8 pt either.   I have gotten fair use out of them in getting to oil ports on my lawn tractors that were apparently designed with the "you'll never wrench this" in mind, but an 8 pt and a flex and extension and voila!  Never had much luck with crowsfoot on those plugs.  for some reason, i buy spares any time i see them.
