Large/Long Hammer Head or Pick for ID

Hello again from the UK. Can anyone please tell me anything about this beauty. Is it a pick or a hammer, what was it used for ? Its stamped Sheffield "Hammer Works"

Ric, I think that is called a paving hammer. Used, I believe, for laying Belgian blocks...whatever those are.
