Aldi hack saw or is it something else.

This Aldi saw came to me in a box lot (Made for Aldi stores) and no listing of who made it.  However, the blade is what has me stumped as I wonder what it is supposed to cut.  Does not look like a hack saw blade, so what do you think it is supposed to cut.

May well be, but I have never seen a pruning saw that looked anything like it.

It is a hacksaw, went on line and put in Workzone as that was on the blade and one came up on e-bay.  It comes with three blades and the one on it is for wood.  The other two blades are for metal and plastic.  However, the wood blade has no pitch at all, thus would not be worth much sawing wood.  I then tried it and it is next to worthless.  Thanks for all the input, it got me thinking.

Several years ago I bought two wrench sets (metric and inch) at Aldi.  They are Workzone brand but are also marked Meister, a German tool maker.  They are very nicely made, light but sturdy enough for using at my work.  The inch set included 15/32 and 19/32 wrenches.

Now I have another question.  When back on line and looked at the Aldi hacksaw on e-bay again and read with difficulty the package.  On it was the information that the other two blades were packaged inside the handle.  I took the saw apart and the blades were inside with blade protectors on them.  One is supposed to be for metal and the other plastic.  So, which is which--one is 18 teeth to the inch and the other is 24 and both look similar in appearance.  The wood blade is 5 teeth to the inch.

Hello, Coolford. My personal preference would be the 18 for metal, and the 24 for plastic.If they are hacksaw blades it shouldn't matter, it would depend on the gauge of steel you are cutting, and the thickness of the plastic you want to cut. Have you tried that 5 TPI on green wood? Regards, Lou

If I was cutting thick metal like a 1/2 bar, 18 teeth.  Thin sheet metal I would want 24 teeth because the 18 teeth will bite in and you'll bend the metal.
