Thought I'd share this pre Select Steel Indestro wrench—made only for about a year—that came in a box of random tools. It's 'Alloy Steel' marking places it made between 1937-1938.

It was severely rusted and had a twist bent into it. It's sorry state was such that I'm surprised, but thankful, it stayed out of the landfill. Cleaned up nice. Admirable quality despite the heavy pitting, which may in fact make it even more endearing to me. A survivor for sure.

"Alloy Steel"

"CHICAGO-U. S. A."

This had a "...'rust proof plating' (probably cadmium)' per Alloy Artifacts, long gone.

No. 905 per vintage ad posted at http://progress-is-fine.blogspot.com

Thanks for looking!

Those kits were/are nifty.  It's my impression that they were marketed to car owners, to carry in the toolbox, so you could (a) keep all the wrenches together, or (b) lose them all in the same place

Great old wrench KJJ. I'll bet there aren't many around still with that marking.
My friends call me Bob. My wife calls me a lot worse.
