Okay, they are used to ween calves when the cow does not do it herself.  The one on the left has a name which is "Kant Suck), the one on the right is not marked but is factory made.  However, I'm not exactly sure how it works and is the one I picked up in a box lot on Saturday.

The one on the left gooks into the calf's nostrils and so it can't suck.
The other one straps across the calf's head and is very off-putting.  You know the old saying: "When Mama's not happy, nobody's happy."

I spent several summers on farms but I had no idea what those were. Probably because 2 of my uncles had wheat and grain crops and another had about 200 hogs.

Never seen those before.  Very different solutions for the same problem.
