tool identification, please?

Any help in identifying this tool would be appreciated. It's about 9 inches long, and looks like a railroad spike with rounded over ends. The wide end is about 2 inches in diameter.

The maker's mark looks something like a V-shaped crown.

I want to suggest Woodings Verona, but after searching a bit, I don't think so.

Looks like some kind of silversmith's hand stake or dolly to me.

Thank you all for your messages. Yes, on further research I believe it is a metalsmithing stake. Similar to this

I got it in a batch of tools that were mostly from the 1930s, so perhaps it's from a similar era? I haven't found any info on the mark though.
