These were in a box lot and thought they were files at first.  However, the triangle shape has sharp edges and a point but no teeth on the edges or sides.  Even more confusing is the one with a wood handle has a Nicholson, warrented, USA mark.  What are they and how used?

could it be inside  small hole deburring tool?

Those are 3 Edge Scrapers, or Machinist's 3-sided Scraper. Most that I have were found in Machinist's tool boxes, for de-burring holes, edges, or, flat surfaces on metal.

My thought on these would be bearing scrapers.

I believe traditional bearing  scrapers are curved, and 2-sided. Not that a 3-sided scraper couldn't be used for bearings!!

i'm going with the 3 sided scraper.   i have an old shorty (like those) and a much longer one i got from a neighbor's yard sale that is probably 8 or 9 inches long (not including handle).

I'm with Lou, these work great for scraping paint spots off wood or metal too. Lots of different sizes also. The one I use the most is about an eighth of an inch on a side. Keep them sharp!

And they're dynamite useful tools when sharp.  I own two, and would not want to be without them.  Great for deburring holes and similar edges.

I use mine all the time. I have two and a third one I made from a triangular file - it took a very long spell at the grinder to make it.

Much thanks, now I have another tool to use instead of a file.

The mechanics scraper sets like Mound made had one in them.

Sometimes shop-made from triangular files.
A great many machinists have at least one and find them indispensable.

I believe that they were used on babbit bearings. One was included in the WW2 machinist's set. The color pictures are my re-creation of that set.

Hello, Don. Here is a photo showing the difference between a 3-Sided Scraper, and a Bearing Scraper. Once again, you can use a tool for whatever you need to get the job done, but the photo should clear up how the 2 different tools were designed, and marketed. Stay safe, Lou

I have both types of scrapers. Like you say, they are used for whatever is required. I often use my three corner for getting burrs out of the inside of PVC pipe.
