Right here in Jordan, about 2 miles up the road, a couple brothers were having a yard sale.  Lots and lots of tools.  From one brother I bought a Snap-On ignition pliers No. 105 with Vacuum Grip, A German "perfect handle style" screwdriver, actual Corbin brand Corbin clamp pliers "Pat. Pend", and what I suppose are hog ring pliers???.  From the other brother I bought the Erie Tool Works 15" "S" type adjustable wrench.  That's a 15" rule in the photo.

Why were early wrenches "S" Shaped?  What was the advantage?  I have been a mechanic my whole life but never really applied any "S" wrenches to my work.
Can you make out the date code on the Snap-On Plier?
Are those hog ring pliers?  What is the purpose of the curved ends of the handle?  They look like good quality castings but the rivet looks like it was peened over on one side.  There are some marks, looking like PAI or PAT, and below that are illegible marks.

Here they are cleaned up...The Erie wrench still has most of the original black paint!

nice.  those sure look like hog ring pliers, but my neighbor was looking for a pair for doing upholstery in an old car.

These seem to be large than auto "hog ring" pliers, at least they are a lot larger than the ring pliers I have.
