I just noticed this week that craftsman ratchets now are made in china.I also some 3/4 drive sockets from taiwan.
Even though they are gauranteed you can tell the difference.I think thats sad.Maybe I should start saving the US made craftsman?I am beginning to think the only thing made in USA anymore is babies. lol
Sorry if this seems like a rant but it suprises me. :)
It is what it is.

Craftsman tools have been going downhill for over ten years.  I look at the tools with the name set in the forge dies as superior to the laser etched or sticker lableled ones.  If they can't pay to have their name permamately  on the tool, then they must not be very proud of it.  The Craftsman warranty has also fallen off.  Sometimes better to use the old wounded standbys in lieu of the inferior or mismatched replacement.

I agree, my personal thoughts are craftsman has been going down hill.

I have bought very few tools latley but usually I have been hitting the flea markets an pawn shops for used snap on tools.

There still are a few good brands out there thoe that are made in the U.S
such as
Channelock
Klien
Swanson square
Some dewalt tape measures
and ime sure theres others those are just ones that came to mind.
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

I saw a WWII cartoon of a Chinese guy reading a paper with a smile on his face.  The headline was "One Hundred Chinese Killed for every Jap."  The bubble from the Chinese guy said,  "Good!  Pretty soon we win!"
