Armstrong wrench help.
« on: January 18, 2012, 02:15:53 PM »
I don't know to much about Armstrong wrenches, but this is a odd wrench. I am not sure if the handle came with the wrench, so your input would help.  no size marking, Armstrong on one side, drop forged usa on the other about 11 inches long with handle. opening 1/2.  can anyone tell me about it.
Thanks.

Looks like a #201 or #221 8" Spud wrench with an added handle.

It's hard to say what this wrench was for without seeing more of the handle. It looks like it could be a steel rigger's spud wrench, but I will let an Armstrong expert decide for me.

+1. I think it's a 201 spud/construction wrench with a handle added.

(A handle that would not be very good, I might add..!)

Don't find an Armstrong but have a Williams 201 spud wrench and it has a 1/2 opening;is 9 1/2 long.

Just a file handle added to the wrench. The wrench may have been ground down so the file handle would fit.

Odd. I don't have a 1939 edition. Do you know where I can download a copy?
