I picked up this 6 1/2-inch self-adjusting pipe wrench today. It is weakly stamped "SELF ADJUSTING WRENCH" and operates like a Speednut with the spring in the "off" position. I have never seen another one exactly like it. Maybe you have and you can tell us about it.

 Schultz lists as No 2 Self Adjusting wrench( item 330). Also one sold in Vern Nail's auction listed as No 1 Self Adjusting wrench. Maybe different sizes were made.

Most of the ones I have seen like that with a mark were Made in Germany.  I think I may have had a made in France one too, but I may be confusing it with those odd shaped European crescent type adjustables.

Interestingly, there is a patent titled 'Self Adjusting Wrench", from 1924, it doesn't show that wrench, but it does show that *type* of wrench. Could be coincidental tho....

Looks to be based off the Cochran Speednut wrench.
