VACATION FINDS in the Northwoods

Took a short week to go up north of Green Bay and do some paddling and golf and hit a few yard sales.  Not a lot to choose from but one house in GB yielded a nice cache of tools.  Scored a few old Coleman lanterns and stoves too, but that's another forum!!  Spent less than last fall, that's for sure

Does anyone have a line on a trigger switch assembly for the SkilSaw??.  I gave the ol' boy a dollar for it and figured it could be used for parts if aI couldn't find a trigger switch/cord for it.  The big finds were the PH clone Bridgeport screwdriver, the Duro Chrome ratchet set(never seen none with plating and the removable 1/4" drive male part, much less the strange sockets that went with it....HVAC tools??).  And if anyone knows the manufacturer of the big Red 24" pipe wrench, I'd be grateful.  All that's on it is a "No. 131" on the handle.  There's a rectangular box inset further down the handle that looks like there was space for a sticker or other forging mark, but nothing there.  It's old, that's for sure.

If you are referring to the odd sockets with the two prongs, they are "packing gland nut" sockets...

Thanks for all the responses.  I better ask Papaw real nice before I do too much Coleman chat.... Since it is a General Discussion forum, I'm gong to push the envelope and see if I get in trouble. 

For some reason, Coleman stoves are showing up in increasing numbers at yard sales.  I've gotten some old ones for free, a dollar, got an old 413F with stand and nearly a full gallon of fuel in a rusty Coleman can for $5(yeah the fuel was worth more than that), and I spent $8 on a nice one a couple weeks ago.  As far as lanterns go, I found a nice 2 mantle greenie from 1974 and the same guy that sold me the stove for a buck also sold me a red single burner from 1965 with the original box complete with Holiday gas station price tag marked down to $9 from $15 for another dollar.  While he was on the dollar kick, he also sold me his full bore aluminum camp cook set for another dollar.  He got cold feet on selling the old Duluth pack for a buck, though.

.  The big find though was an old model 220(I think) or maybe a 228 with the nickel plated fuel tank and the Eisenglass/plastic lens.  Yeah, the lens ain't purfect, but the date code says it was made in September of 1927.  I horsed the owner around and ended up with a package deal for the lantern, two Dayton small motor blower cages, that funky Hempe miter saw, the Craftsman long back saw, and something else for like $17.  This was part of a city wide yard sale weekend just east of Wausau.

The stop in Charles City Iowa was a short one yard sale wise, as I was there primarily to race my kayak and canoe in Iowa's first whitewater slalom event(part of the Iowa Games).  Yeah, it's one of those esoteric Olympic Sports, but way fun to do, even in my Senior years.  Eventually the young bucks will be kicking me around the river, but not quite yet.......We didn't finish til after 5, so the pickins was slim, but the one big sale I did stop at had some overpriced tools and a lot of fairly priced(but too rich for my blood) calipers, micrometers, etc.  I spent like $15 there and was kicking myself for not asking them if they were interested in selling the two tool display boards screwed to the wall in the garage.  Both were single panels and one was a New Britain and the other was an OTC.  Next trip to the whitewater park, I'll make a side trip and see if they are still there.  I don't have a lot of either of those brands, but saving that stuff is a worthwhile gesture.  I will take the Aisan Milwaukee up there with a phillips bit in case they let me shake them loose.

I love hitting garage sales and flea markets when we're on vacation.
When we came back from Florida this Spring I brought about 60 pounds of wrenchs, ratchets and sockets.

Chopper:  That 60# will fit in a milk crate!!!  LOL My VW Vanagon(when it's healthy) will haul many cubic feet of stuff. once took out the front passenger seat and hauled an 11' canoe inside and the rear hatch closed completely.  Had 6 kayaks inside it(subby rodeo boats, none of them mine BTW!!).

It goes 0-60 in an afternoon, but like Hans Solo said in the first Star Wars movie, "It ain't pretty, but it gets me there."

Back to unpacking my Thursday night yard sale socket snatching....

oopps better get the Coleman pix first...... curiosity killed the cat, but I don't own any whiskers...

The all green one on top is dated on the bottom of the lantern  4    72  The red one is dated 1   65, and the Quick Lite code is actually backwards prior to 1948 or so, so the 7  9 is actually September of 1927.
