I went to a great auction just a few miles from my home here in North Dakota on Friday.  The old fellow had passed away about a year ago leaving behind a lifetime of collections.  He was known far and wide for his knowledge and huge collections of magnetos and maytag washing machine engines but he basically collected everything from tractors to tap & die sets. I was interested in picking up another tilting arbor table saw for my shop and found a 1939 Delta Unisaw in very good condition among the rows and rows of stationary machines. There were about ten farm trailers covered with stuff that they started auctioning first then moved on to misc. vintage farm and blacksmith equipment. By early afternoon the crowd had gathered around the collection of magnetos that sold for no less than $100 dollars apiece!  By late afternoon they got to the rows of shop machines and by then the crowd had thinned out some as most of the folks where drawn to the engines and magnetos.  I got some great deals and the Unisaw I wanted for way less than I expected.
In the end I got out of there after spending $265 buck and getting a pretty good sunburn but had an excellent time at a local country auction.

Wow!A 1939 Unisaw is a real find. A heavy duty jigsaw and a good bandsaw all for $265. Ya done good son, ya done real good!

Rusty, there was so much stuff it made your head spin!  The vise is actually bolted to the base of an old cream seperator, he used those bases on several different projects.

The stuff of dreams.   The Unisaw looks great, I'd of gotten it even if I am shy of space.  But you mentioned blacksmith items?

I have that same bandsaw and base from gpas stuff. I have not yet used it.

Here's a photo of a large Champion drill press for the blacksmith crowd.  There where several forge blowers as well as anvils, the biggest anvil was a Lakeside maybe 150 to 200 pound, it went for $150.  Lots of crucibles, hammers and tongs also.

That drill press lookas like Rube Goldberg invented it!!!  Great finds and did you wear your truss while loading it all?? lol

Heads Up:  the Wards 4 drawer tool boxes are going for decent money on the bay.  I keep trying to steal one at a low price...

I see some clamp on vises, any chance of getting pics of those when you gat a chance ?

Shaft driving a v belt driving a pully driving a flat belt driving a shaft driving a clutch driving a gear driving a spingle....

It's a wonder there's any power left to drill a hole ;P

I took the shot of the Champion drill press after most of the stuff had been hauled away. I don't know who bought it but I thought it was pretty cool. It's huge!
