Saw some early race cars last weekend

Every year, the weekend after the fourth, The Harry Miller Car Club holds a gathering at the Milwaukee Mile.  Harry A. Miller is the guy that literally invented modern race cars. His engines and cars won Indy and most everything else from about 1920 to the late thirties. When he retired, he sold his shop and drawings to his shop foreman, Fred Offenhauser, who was also fairly successful at winning until the four-cam Ford Lotus cars came along in 1963.The cars are allowed on the track and range from 1906 to 1962. This year was just a little under 50 cars. It was a great thrill for me to hear and see all of these great cars at speed. I took a few shots at the flea market and in the parking lot as well.

Now wouldn't  a small high mileage commuter styled like them be a hoot driving back and forth to work.
