I went to an estate sale for the first time in my life today while out yard sale hunting with the girls. Mostly, I was the driver!!

Went in not knowing what to expect, and found all kinds of glass ware and household items. Then the little old lady running the sale says "There's more stuff in the basement." Let me tell you, my ears perked up like a chihuahua on a burrito's scent!!! What a basement it was, actually a two-care garage with small workshop area on one side. Looked like most everything was picked through but I found a few nice things to take home.

Spent a total of $12 for this stuff, there was more I would have brought home but I was getting the ole "EVIL EYE" from my domestic accounting engineer. Plus, she didn't want to help me carry anything else....she got a little grease on her from the grease gun!!!

Top photo:
-3 bottles Turner propane fuel
-nice little red toolbox with misc junk/clamps/cotter pins/brass fitting/etc.
-Taparia 10" adjustable (see last photo for close up)-A NEW ONE ONE ME!! I think it is India made.
-Craftsman 6" adjustable (From Toolbox)
-Early Chevrolet tool kit pliers (From Toolbox)
-Sears pliers (Made in Japan)-like new, barely used if at all (From toolbox)
-Alemite Lubricator grease gun (early auto tool kit issue, I think)
-K-D 287 brake spoon. Brand new unused. (From toolbox)

2nd Photo show a cool older Brite Bore universal gun cleaning kit. Such good shape I couldn't pass on it.

3rd Photo is a close up of the Taparia adjustable wrench. Very good quality to have been made in India in the land of LBD's (Little Brown Doctors) and 7-Eleven manager trainee's. At least much better than all the india tools I have seen to date.

From the trade page:

"The Company set up its factory at Nasik, and started commercial production in 1969 in technical collaboration with a highly reputed Company of Sweden. The Company has established "TAPARIA" Brand as synonym for high quality Hand Tools ..."

So they are at least not catering to the 'cheapest bidder' market ....

Gotta love old basements :)

Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

The Alemite Lubricator grease gun you have is part of the Ford Model A tool kit.

Thanks Rusty. It was of nice quality, I couldn't leave it. No nasty parting lines on it from the drop forging process, or rough edges. Looks like they do take their time making them and strive for quality.

BRwrench: I thought so on the Lubricator. This is the second I have found. My understanding is they were made by either Alemite or Bassick if I remember correctly. One has finer lines on the cap than the other. I have a bunch of different small grease guns I have cleaned up recently including several different Alemite's (some with wire handles, some with wooden handles), Lincoln Lubriguns, etc. I have one that twists to lock on to a pinned fitting. I know it is for an early kit, just forgot which one. I'll try to get pictures of them and post them in a new thread. I find them fascinating in their design, but I'm accumulating too much stuff and think I'm going to sell them before too long.

How does one tell if its from  a ford kit or just an old grease gun?

The particular style of this gun is what determines that it is for a Model A, and as Keykeeper stated they were made by either Alemite or Bassick and one has finer lines on the cap than the other.  This style of grease gun was used from 1928 to 1934 when Ford switched to zerk grease fittings. The later style guns were of a different design and were identified with model numbers.
