Picked these up yesterday and saw the V-10 on ebay and the desciption said it was for a VW.
Couldn't find info on the other, anybody know about it?

DIN 895

lbgradwell

DIN is an abbreviation for "Deutsches Institut für Normung" or the "German Institute for Standardization". It's the national organization that governs standardization in Germany. There are thousands of DIN standards, but 895 is the set of standards for materials, dimensions and other physical properties that apply to this particular type of wrench.

In addition to Hazet, you will find such wrenches in car kits manufactured by Heyco, Dowidat & Matador, Elora, Gedore, Walter & Stubai.

Hazat's were in several toolkits, invluding the various VW cars, Porche's etc etc.

The  13/8 wrench was the only DOE size in the 70's era Bug toolkit, but factory (aftermarket) rolls include 7x8,10x12, and a 13 and 14 combination wrench.....(so, no, you can not take your bug apart with the toolkit in the trunk/hood-lol)

The DIN marked could be a BMW toolkit wrench, or (likely) just a plain vanilla mechanics wrench....

Porche used 8/9,10/14,11/12,17/19, but *not* marked Hazat in that style....

(Benz spent the extra bux and had their toolkit wrenches marked with their name..)
....

Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

Some Hazet goes for big money others are about worthless.  I had one odd wrench I bought for $1 sold it to VW guy for $75.  I think the HaZET(lower case a) is older than the HAZET wrenches.  I picked up several Hazet wrenches over the weekend. Here is the the v-10 i got but i think it is 8 & 12mm.

The ones that collectors are looking for go in tool kits that came with VW Porsche etc.  The one i sold was 21mm and 36mm box end wrench.  I just buy them all now hoping to get lucky.  You can check out ebay or this VW forum http://www.thesamba.com/vw/  dont' stay there too long you might start to want and old VW bug.

Lostmind

I have some that say " Lister" on them , and they look very smiler, could be same manufacture.
They come with Lister diesel engines.
Of all the things I've lost , I miss my mind the most

anglesmith

Lostmind,  All manifacturers have copied each other  at some time or other. Lister is English, Hazet German so in this case they weren't made in the same plant!

With little choice in the mtter, the DIN standard includes aspects of the shape of the wrench, so all wrenches designed to the standard will look very similar...
