Do tool manufactures keep track of each number of tools they make?

Like the US Mint when they tell us how many pennies were made in each year.

I think it would be nice to know how many of each were made.

I am sure they do, to tally with the amount of steel bought, but probably buried deep in the corporate archives too, not for public knowledge is my guess.

Gang,

Western Forge used to post counts of how many screwdrivers they've made on their web site.

There was mention of 100 million Craftsman screwdrivers as of 1976.

There used to be a count of Robogrip pliers produced.  It was huge...

They don't report this stuff any more since Ideal acquired WF.
