Not your ordinary hacksaw

This past weekend I was at a farm show.  Had just sold something so was flush with cash, had to have this.   It is an Atkins, big frame hacksaw, some models came with a handle on each end.  Something just made me take this home.  Now I will see five more at a lower price, that's the way it is, usually.  Anyone have one that is nicer?

John, that looks like a butcher's saw to me.  Got several, but none look as good as yours. 

Hmmm... I've been wondering. One of mine is stamped "not to be sold."  What's with that?

My grandparents had a commercial meat processing facility as I grew up....mostly butchering their own stock.  It has the same basic design as the butcher saws I grew up seeing in the meat house.  It does appear to have a deeper inset than what I'm used to seeing.

What blade was/is on it?

I think its a saw for railroad track. At least that is what I have seen the super deep hacksaw frames called.
For every 500 butchers saws seen, you see one of these.

They don't come any nicer John. Whatever you paid, you won't find another to compare it to for a while.

Leg of steer or rail of train, it is a really cool saw in very fine shape. Nice score John.

I have about six meat saws.   They all have the same shape and proportions as a hacksaw.   This has a hacksaw blade.   Guess I should have put in a ruler, as the mouth is over a foot deep.   Sawing pipe, or even an I-Beam would be easy with this one.  If the boss handed you this one, and 3 saw blades, you knew it was going to be a long day***.
