Off Topic- Shuttle Endeavour

Shuttle was here in Houston overnight on its way to California. I couldn't make the fly-over and landing, but was out this morning at sunrise to watch it take off on its last trip.

It amazes me that the plane with the load it's carrying could even get off the ground. I watched a news video of it.

Papaw, I googled it amd found  it was at the Ellington field, I wondered if you had make the trek out to Intercontinental at sunrise!
I have a picture from the early 80's when I lived in League City (south of Houston) of the shuttle flying back from out west, it made a wide turn to line up for Ellington and we got some nice shots of them. It is quite a site to see them flying piggyback!.

I had always wanted to see a shuttle launch in person, but never had the opportunity.

It must have been awesome to witness that piggy-back flight, but I can't stop thinking about the colossal waste of taxpayer money used to move these relics back and forth across the country; especially after the shuttle program has ended.

I don't imagine it costs much more than it does to move a WWII battleship or carrier to a dock to become a museum.

I'm just not sure why the Smithsonian NAS Museum had to move out Enterprise only to receive Discovery. 

Regardless, I did enjoy the Endeavour  pictures.
