I regularly take a Ocuvite pill each day to preserve my eyesight. Went to a garage sale sat. and saw this purty hand drill. Stanley 611 with the 3/8 chuck. !00 plus series. Price was $2 which is twice my normal limit but I got a little Indestro socket set for a quarter and an old all steel ice pick for a quarter and they threw in a 1/4 Irvin auger bit for free,so I paid the $2. When I got home and inspected my finds I found that my nice drill contained no jaws in that nice looking chuck. Is my Ocuvite failing ? DRill is not too useful but at least its purty.

I have two copies of the 610 version of that drill; not familiar with the 611, but the 610 is a great drill, with a ball thrust bearing, shielded gear train (nice if you have kids/grandkids; our older son remembers vividly, 35 years later, the time he got his arm "waffled" in the gears of an eggbeater), and other nice touches.  I don't know if Lori Goucher is still with Stanley; you might try her at 800-262-2161 ex 55839; e-mail possibly lgoucher@stanleyworks.com.  She's been quite helpful to me in the past identifying parts they still sell that will fit models they no longer officially support.  I have no idea of her age; if she's retired, I hope they appointed/promoted someone as helpful and knowledgeable to the "obscure tools" assignment.

Jim, WHat diameter and threads per inch?  I have an extra chuck that may fit, that looks to be about in the same condition.  Will everything come of the threaded shaft?  If it will, the one I have should screw right on...if the threads are right.

Mike, Does not want to unscrew completely. Since its Stanley its probably private label thread. Found this 611 on shelf in garage. Didn't know I had it which means I'm not going to be using it.
Seems I'm missing an assembly consisting of two sheet metel washers with three torsion springs riveted to one of them and three jaws.
I may call Stanley ( thanks for contact info Bill) If that isn't productive the 611 goes on shelf with 1610 and will be available for members that need a part other than the jaws.

OK, it's missing the jaws.  There's gotta be replacements somewhere.  But the condition!  Sheesh!  Both of the drills look like NOS condition.  Purty and purty impressive.

I see those drills in trashed condition quite regularly.  I'll find you one with jaws intact that you can install.

I'm finding out this "method" is becoming more and more necessary to restore older tools of many kinds.
