Picked it up at a yard sal this morning and it appears to be a bunch of hacksaw blades riveted together in a diamond pattern with the one side coarser than the other.  Wood handle and the only markings on it are "Made in Spain".  It's pretty crude to be a rasp or wallboard file, but I'd love to get your collective input.  I'm stumped.

TIA

I remember seeing these a while back, but can't remember a thing about them.  I don't thing the ones I saw were from Spain, though.

It would work like a rasp. Not sure exactly what it would be intended for. Shaping wood perhaps.

I have one around here somewhere with a yellow handle. I always thought it was a wood rasp and used it as such.
All my taste is in my tools.

I have two of these, both made in Germany, I thought that they were wood rasps and have used them as such and they do seem to do a decent job. Both of mine are similar in the metalwork but the handles are a little different in lengths, one has what appears to be a lacquer on a maple or ? handle and the other is some type of hardwood with a red or burgundy finish. I don't know if this helps but it is all I can offer

Definitely a wood rasp. Lee Valley Tools sells a Japanese made version of it. It is sharpened on both sides. http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=65692&cat=1,42524

Thanks.  I saw a similar tool at a yard sale today.  It was a single loop of the hacksaw blade material with the top and bottom having the two  different tooth/inch counts, but the blade was really flexible and was melded into a generic plastic handle like a cheapo paint scraper.  Didn't buy it.....

Good find on the rasp. The one you saw at a yard sale is a dog grooming tool. It's called a shedding blade and is used to strip out loose hair from the dog's coat.

Thanks.  That explains why it was laying next to an over priced $10 battery operated "Pedi-cure" tool.
