We found this in one of the sheds at work. I know I have seen one of them before but I can't remember where or what it is

+1 on this being a pot scrubber. You can still buy them new and apparently they work well, especially on cast iron cookware where you wouldn't want to use detergent.

My wife- the cafeteria manager says soap is ok, just don't soak the pan in it.

Good to know. I don't use cast iron cookware myself, mostly because it always seemed to be more trouble than it's worth, but I know there's people who swear by it. I do have an old dutch oven I use from time to time to melt scrap lead to cast ingots for bullet casting, but that's as close as I get.

I agree with pot scrubber. I use soap with my cast iron pans without a problem too.

Never saw one of these before.  Where can you get such a pot scrubber?  That's basically a section of chain mail, which is also used to distress replaced wood when repairing antiques.

I think it is much lighter than typical chainmail. I would thing GFS or another kitchen supply would be your best bet. I am sure you can find one on amazon.

I didn’t find one on amazon, but I found this which may be more what you’re looking for.

Looks to me almost like a bottle opener with ring mail on it. Not sure it is a tool so much as an unfinished project. maybe someone was trying to make a pot scrubber?
