Got over to the the lone estate sale in town Friday after work and found a garage full of tools; some under priced and some way over priced.   A afellow tool geek was there too and picking up stuff he knew I would want as he does woodworking and I'm after the mech tools.  Together he and I spent about $20 of my money, but I couldn't return the favor to him by finding any good wood tool stuff.

The upper right hand corner are quite a few Thorsen bits, but not sure if the box was Thorsen or not.  Over on the left was an auto wrench "E", and a cool looking no namer, a "M.King  double duty clone, a GTD 8" woodie pipe wrench, andA Blackhawk hose clamp pliers.  Underneath is a really cool 14" P&C pipe wrench I got at another sale for a buck(everything else he had was WAY overpriced).  Then there's a small slip joint Wilde pliers, a Klein lineman's/ironworkers pliers in great shape(will be a worker for me ).  The part number says it's not spozed to have the bent back handle on it, but then who knows how old this one is after all.  Finlly an Indestro slot Screwdriver.

Going over to his house wtoday to pick up som Williams/Plomb/ etc. bits he acquired at an auction last week.  Ah if only I were retired and rich.....lol

Them THORSON ratchets are bombproof.

...and this one is in near perfect condition....for $2.. the socket box was $4 but had mosstly Taiwan stuff in it, but osme  US Thorsen and one US Action socket in it. Forgot to mention the old Craftsman DBE in the upper left....my bad..and the screwdriver under the Thorsen stuff is a Challenger, not an Indestro.......

Moose,
If you want to tell how old your kleins are, take a look under the handles up by the pivot point.  There should be a group of 3 letters forged into one of the handles.  The first letter is the quarter it was made(quarter date) and the last two are the year.

Here is how you interpret them.

M K L E I N C O R P
1  2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0

For example if your letters were KNP they would have been made during the second quarter of 1960.

Hope that helps.

That red box appears to be a Thorsen "Red Box Special" box, and it would have had that beauty of a ratchet originally.
"FORGED IN THE USA" myself.  Be good to your tools!
