Lathe Face Plate? Clipper Blade Sharpener Plate?

Measures 10". Cast aluminum. Was found in a box with 2 lathe face plates, but I don't think that's it. It looks more like a honing plate for machines that sharpen clipper blades.

The arbor hole is 3/4" and smooth with a set screw. As far as I know lathe arbors are threaded.. A number on back reads "1103"

Disc sanding plate.  Except for the 3/4 inch arbor hole, it looks just like the 12 inch sanding disc supplied with the old ShopSmiths (these had 5/8 inch arbors).  Useful tool.

Wouldn't have to spin pretty fast for it to be affected, enough to were it wouldn't work? It doesn't look like to big of a chunk.

Ya'll are a blessing. I did a little searching and the closest thing I found was this Walker Turner 10" disc sander. They look similar. Thanks for sending me in the right direction.

The chip is on the lower edge. I doubt it would cause any balance problems as long as it's positively connected to the arbor... Otherwise I suppose there's 1001 ways to add weight.

90 deg. & ~5" from the set screw isn't the best place to have a light spot, but as it is aluminum, maybe gust a few grams, not too bad... insure it is sound (no other cracks) & secure before running it.

Fancy cast wheels don't accept the traditional wheel weights, so there are stick-on weights available.  I bet you could get a couple for cheap or free from your local tire place.  Alternatively, Hunter Fans used to issue its fans with a balancing kit that included a thick, heavy tape for balancing the fan blades.  You could contact a store that sells ceiling fans and see if they have a fan balancing kit, but I bet you'd have to spend actual money to get one of those.

Run it, if it vibrates too much, you can cut some off the opposite side for free...
