H. D. Smith Chisel

I picked up this interesting little cold chisel in a group of items I recently found. While giving it a light cleanup to remove the grunge, I noticed a lightly struck manufacturer's name on it. I couldn't make out the whole name, but took a wild guess and filled in the blanks. A web search revealed it to be an H. D. Smith SharpenEzy cold chisel. The thing I found most interesting was that, according to the DATAMP information, this chisel was not known to have been produced. Well, now you know.

It was shown in their last catalog and I have seen several for sale in the past. Been wanting one for my H D Smith collection.

I 'spect it would read "the shark"  if the mark was more clear.

It says SharpenEzy.

Try a couple drops of vinegar on the lettering after you scrub it with Skotchbrite.  That should bring the lettering up.

I looked for one of these for several years after first seeing the listing in the reproduction H. D. Smith catalog. Found my first one in a tool box I kept in the barn. I had even used it several times years before when I worked on VW's.
