Here go the famous last words...I don't collect axe heads... but this one caught my eye.  I have not touched it as far as cleaning it up.  Should I clean up the mushrooming on the back of the head?

Great find!  I don't believe I would touch the mushrooming.  Clean, polish, and reshaft.
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

Great marking. There is a plumb champion on ebay but it is not marked that I can see. I agree leaving mushrooming as is would be wise. Don't put a handle in it as I know your storage is limited.

Martin Donnelly is going to have a big collection of axes coming up in auctions this year and next year, keep and eye out maybe one will come up to compare it with. Some of them bring big bucks.

Stanley,

The markings on that axe head are far more ornate and interesting than most old axe heads.  Hang onto it until you have a plan of what you want to do with it.  I'm guessing you might just decide to keep it.

Wouldn't that look great on a Plumb Axe display rack?

Lauver,

The markings are what caught my eye.  I think a light cleanup and then I will find it a home on the mantle.

Here is the Axe head after my "light' cleanup and a little WD-40.
